Policy Statement

Members of Wanstead Golf Club may request a temporary suspension of their membership on medical grounds, subject to the terms outlined below. This policy ensures fairness to all members while supporting those facing genuine health-related challenges.

Eligibility and Terms

Initial Suspension Period

  • A member may apply for a suspension of up to 6 months due to a medical condition that prevents them from playing golf.
  • The request must be made in writing to the Office, including a brief explanation of the medical issue.

Extension Beyond 6 Months

  • To continue the suspension beyond the initial 6-month period, the member must provide a valid medical certificate or supporting documentation from a healthcare professional.
  • A further suspension of up to 6 months may be granted upon receipt of suitable evidence.

Maximum Duration

  • The total duration of suspended membership for medical reasons must not exceed 12 consecutive months.

Conditions of Suspension

  • Suspension will take effect from the first day of the month following the date the club receives the written suspension request. All membership fees up to the effective date of suspension remain payable.
  • During the suspension period, the member will not be liable for membership fees and will not have access to club facilities or competitions.
  • Membership will automatically resume at the end of the approved suspension period unless the member advises the club otherwise or submits a further valid medical certificate(subject to the 12-month limit).
  • If a member is unable to resume after 12 months, they may be offered alternative membership options or invited to reapply for membership when ready.
